Obama Country

“Every place is Barack Obama country once Barack Obama's been there.”

Obama identifies himself as a Christian, and I always take people at face value on that. And it was just a joke. And one of the Left’s worst vices is their utter incapacity to let a joke just be a joke, so I don’t want to make too much of it.

But it is amusing to me that this remark tracks one of the peculiar conceits of Islam, which is that once a land comes under the conquest of Islam, it is to be considered Islamic land even after the Muslims are ejected, as they were from Andalusia in Spain in the 15th Century.

But, as I said, it was just a joke, and that's how I'm taking it.
