After stating that they “have long known the true character of CAIR and its allies,” the Center for Islamic Pluralism’s ad makes the following points about CAIR:
• We observe that they denounce “terrorism” in general terms but not the specific actions of Islamist groups like Hamas or Hezbollah. They denounce violence but not the ideologies behind it.Read the rest, and find a link to the ad, here.
• We observe their commitment to radical aims, their attempts to chill free speech by calling critics of radical Islam “Islamophobes,” and their false, ugly accusations against moderate American Muslims who disagree with their agenda.
• We reject any claim that CAIR and its supporters are legitimate civil liberties advocates or appropriate partners between the U.S. government and American Muslims.
• We congratulate the FBI for adopting a firmer attitude toward CAIR, as a defense of Americans of all faiths from the menace of radical Islam, including Muslims of all backgrounds—Sunni, Shia, Sufi, secular, etc.
• We call on the U.S. Department of Justice to affirm and continue this decision.
• We call on the entire United States government to follow suit in rejecting relations with the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

Ask any average American: most have never even HEARD of the Weekly Standard, let alone read it! And what I mean by average American in this instance is, you know, not someone who works in politics or journalism, or who obsessively writes for political blogs, like you, or obsessively reads political blogs, like me.
Ask anyone on the street: "What is the Weekly Standard?"
8 out of 10 will not know that it is a publication. I know this statistic to be fact because I conducted this poll outside the Michigan Ave./Outer Drive Kroger.
So it doesn't really matter.
Hi George
I congratulate you for your industry on taking that poll. Two out of ten is better than I would have thought. And we’re familiar with that corner. Did you happen to poll on how many had heard of Al-Jazeerah?
Without getting too morose about it, I agree that the ignorance of the “average American” is formidable, not just about the Weekly Standard, but about just about every other subject outside of a) sports and b) Obama’s dog.
But we knew that before we started. I’d guess it was close to 8/10 American colonists couldn’t have told you what “Common Sense” was. That said, do you know a better cure for ignorance than making information available for the sake of the 2 out of 10?
It's very encouraging to see that there is a coalition of American Muslims. They are welcome and needed!
T.R. Clancy,
The answer to your question is: There is no cure at all. Your proposal for a cure will amount to nothing.
Wendy Woodley,
It does not matter that you welcome anyone. It is not for you to welcome anyone.
